Ondřej Šilt became the master of the republic

Ondřej Šilt became the master of the republic for the year 2008. The Championship took place in Bečov nad Teplou. He won 8 games out of 9. According to the expectations his biggest rival was Jan Hora who also had 8 points. The winner was decided in their game which was finally better for Ondřej Šilt.

The third was after a good performance Vladimír Daněk who defeated everybody except the two mentioned. The fourth was Jan Šimara with five points.

Radek Nechanický managed to defeat Ondřej Šilt, but he lost for instance with Martin Kužela or Ondřej Kruml so he had four points and was the fifth. Also Zbyněk Dach and Ondřej Kruml had four points. The success of Ondřej Kruml was the biggest surprise of the Championship.

Although Martin Kužela defeated Radek Nechanický, he had only three points in the end and was the eighth. Ivan Kostka and Bronislav Snídal were at the last two places. The biggest disillusion was the final placement of Ivan Kostka who used to be a threat for European 6 dan players. The results of Bronislav Snídal corresponded with the expectations.

The subsidiary tournament was dominated by Jan Prokop who did not find any conqueror. The second was Lukáš Podpěra with four points. The best three points player was Jakub Mírka at the third place.
