Jitka Bártová and Jan Hora won the Pair Championship

Jan Hora won his third Championship of the republic this year. After the Students’ Championship in May and the main Championship in November, he managed to win also the Pair Championship with his girlfriend Jitka Bártová. This one took place the last weekend traditionally in Prague. Six pairs took part.

Actually, it is a bit surprising. It was just the second time that this pair played in a Championship. Moreover, they did not lose at all and left behind two formally stronger pairs – Jana Hricová with Ondřej Šilt (the Republic Master from 2004 and 2006) and Klára Žaloudková with Zbyněk Dach (Republic Masters from 2003 and 2005, and European Masters from 2004). Both these pairs have played together for a few years. And it is the cooperation that plays an important role in playing go.

The first mentioned pair ended at the second place, when they lost only with the winners. The second pair had to acquiesce to the fourth place. They were defeated by a new, and it must be said, that formally much weaker pair, Anna Prokopová – Jan Šimara.
