Korean Cho Seok-bin became the winner of the tournament in Brno, which is classified as a part of the prestigious European tournaments Pandanet Go European Cup. Although, according to the previous tournamets, many strong players took part in this tournament, Cho did not find any conqueror.
His main rivals should have been two Romanians: Catalin Taranu, 5. dan pro a Cristian Pop, 7. dan. Cho played with them in the third and the fourth round. However, both of them were not only defeated by him, but they also suffered other unexpected losses: Taranu unbelievably lost in the fifth round with our Jan Šimara, 4.dan, who credited his account with a triumph of his life. It really is not common for 4. dan to defeat 5. dan pro. Pop lost in the last two rounds with young hopeful players Pal Balogh and our Ondřej Šilt.
Most people would tip Cho Seok-bin to win the tournament (and that although he had all his games finished the fastest from all strong players). The following order does not correspond a lot with the players' official strengths: 2nd Pal Balogh, 3rd – 4th Jan Šimara and Catalin Taranu, 5th Radek Nechanický, 6th Ondřej Šilt and 7th Cristian Pop.
