The Czech representative Ondřej Šilt ended at a nice 9th place at the World Amateur Go Championship, which took place from Monday to Thursday in Tokio. He won six games out of eight. Unfortunately, he had the worst other placement criteria from all players with six points and he had to acquiesce to one level worse placement than he reached the last year.
The winner is Shan Ziteng from China, who did not find any conqueror. The second Woo Dang-ha from Korea and the third Mori Hironobu from Japan both lost only once. The fourth ended Cristian Pop from Romania who became the best European.
Together 68 players took part in the championship, which is the same number as in the last year. For China it is the 16th title of the world amateur champion, Japan now has eight of them, Korea three and Hong Kong one.
